DARYL JOE SANTOS
BIO
I am originally from Taguig City, Philippines. Back in high school, I joined an astronomy quiz bee, and my group and I placed 3rd. My days spent reviewing contests piqued my interest in astronomy. That's when I decided to pursue a career in astronomy. I earned my Bachelor of Science in Physics with a specialization in Materials Science from De La Salle University (DLSU), Manila, Philippines. After finishing my undergraduate program, I moved directly to Taiwan to pursue my masters in Astronomy at National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), Hsinchu City. In July 2025, I completed my PhD at the Max Planck Institute for Extraterrestrial Physics (MPE), Garching, Germany, and received my diploma from Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Now, I've started two new part-time positions in the Philippines: one as an Assistant Professorial Lecturer at DLSU and another as an Assistant Professor II at Rizal Technological University (RTU).

Astronomy and science for the people
My mission is to contribute to the Philippine scientific community with my passion for astronomy and science and to promote education for the betterment of my country.

Apart from research, I enjoy cooking, eating good food, watching anime, playing games, volunteering on church activities, and visiting new places. During my free time, I would go out with my friends for some catching up or spend the rest of the day binging on online gaming and anime marathons.
